WHEREAS the Northwest Local Board of Education wishes to advertise and receive bids for the purchase of school buses.
THEREFORE, be it resolved the Northwest Local Board of Education wishes to participate and authorize the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council to advertise and receive bids on said Boards' behalf as per the specifications submitted for the cooperative purchase of school buses.

11.6 2020-21 Middle School Math Curriculum Adoption
Action
  Summary:
The Curriculum Department, in partnership with the middle school teachers and administration, is recommending adoption of Illustrative Math for implementation beginning with the 2020-21 school year. Opportunities for parent review and feedback related to the proposed resource were provided at all three middle schools during the month of February.

  Summary:
The Curriculum Department, in collaboration with the administrators and teachers of CHS and NWHS, is recommending the following print and digital resources for adoption for instructional use beginning with the 2020-21 school year. Parent reviews and opportunities to provide feedback for all recommended resources were scheduled at both high schools.

The Colerain High School music department is requesting permission to take roughly 125 students to Orlando, Florida from February 11, 2021 - February 16, 2021. One and a half days of school will be missed and students will be expected to make up missed work.

11.10 Resolution for Membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for 2020-2021
Action
  Summary:
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of Northwest Local School District, 3240 Banning Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45239, in Hamilton County, Ohio has satisfied all the requirements for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, a voluntary unincorporated association not-for-profit; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Education/Governing Board ("Board") and its Administration desire for the schools with one or more grades at the 7-12 grade level under their jurisdiction to be voluntary members of the OHSAA;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION/GOVERNING BOARD that all 7-12 grade level schools do hereby voluntarily renew membership in the OHSAA and that in doing so, the Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations and Business Rules of the OHSAA are hereby adopted by this Board as and for its own minimum student-athlete eligibility requirements. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Board reserves the right to raise the student-athlete eligibility standards as it deems appropriate for the schools and students under its jurisdiction; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to conduct their athletic programs in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, Business Rules, interpretations and decisions of the OHSAA and to cooperate fully and timely with the Executive Director's Office of the OHSAA in all matters related to the interscholastic athletic programs of the schools. Futhermore, the schools under this Board's jurisdiction shall be the primary enforcers of the OHSAA Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, Business Rules and the interpretations and rulings rendered by the Executive Director's Office. The administrative heads of these schools understand that failure to discharge the duty of primary enforcement may result in fines, removal from tournaments, suspension from membership and/or other such penalties as prescribed in Bylaw 11.

14.1 2020-21 Field Trip Handbook

Attached please find the proposed 2020-21 Field Trip Handbook.

The following updates have been made to the handbook based on feedback from building administrators and transportation department review:
1. Changed references to "Principal" to "Building Administrator" to allow for greater flexibility in the individual designated to approve field trips.
2. Ratio of chaperones to students required on each bus was changed for secondary to 1:30. The ratio of 1:10 was maintained for elementary.
3. The deadline for end-of-year field trips was changed to 4/16/21.
4. Named transportation administrators were changed to reflect current staffing.

All other changes were grammatical or minor clarifications.
